How to get the most bang for your buck
Living off campus means you have to learn how to go grocery shopping. If you didn’t already have this skill, I am here to help. There are a few places where students can buy groceries but not all are cost effective. Food Lion is the closest grocery store to Frostburg State University but is very expensive compared to other stores. Food Lion gives customers the option of receiving a Food Lions Card but the prices are still high. For instance, Food Lion offers a family box of Frosted Flakes cereal for four dollars. With a Food Lions Card, this price is reduced by fifty cents. Compared to Martin’s, which is located in Lavale, this price would be considered high. Martin’s offers this same box of cereal for three dollars. Students often think that Food Lion is cheaper due to the Food Lion Card but this is not the case. On the other hand, Martin’s has more bargains than Food Lion. Martin’s also gives customers coupons. Some of these coupons can be used to reduce your entire purchase and some can be used towards certain products. Wal-Mart, compared to both Food Lion and Martin’s, is the cheapest. Everyday, Wal-Mart offers deals which consist of buy one get one free or two for four and two for five deals. Too often students are forced to shop at Food Lion because it is close and convenient. To get the most bang for your buck, try to buy your groceries from Wal-Mart or you will find yourself throwing away money every time you buy food.
