Vandalism or Movie Promo?

Vandalism at Frostburg State University

Frostburg State University's (FSU) campus was hit by widespread acts of graffiti across campus and surrounding areas. The email sent out by FSU officials alluded that the acts were conducted by anarchists. Upon further investigation, it seemed that the criminal was, in all actuality, just a huge Natalie Portman fan.

These images are merely a pop culture reference to the 2006 film, V for Vendetta, starring Hugo Weaving and Natalie Portman. The plot revolved around an anarchist conducting acts of terrorism in order to overcome his totalitarian government.

So what is the connection between a 5 year old movie with a fake government and FSU's campus? The Vendetta mask, which is a stylized version of Guy Fawkes, an Englishman who tried to bomb the British Parliament on Nov. 5, 1605, has become a popular symbol of the recent OWS movements.

Great. So, anarchy is the way to go? Are local anarchists conspiring to mobilize around Frostburg tomorrow? The mere notion is completely hypocritical considering anarchists are opposed to formation and order.
