Thinking ahead to warm weather there are many options in the Frostburg area to enjoy the outdoors with your friends. For example, whitewater rafting. Rafting is a popular warm weather activity in this area. Ohiopyle, Pennsylvania is an east coast rafters destination. The Youghiogheny river runs through Ohiopyle offering rapids which range from mellow to extreme. There are several business in the area which offer guided rafting and kayaking trips. Laurel highlands offers a beginner day trip for $30 dollars a person. This would be a great way in expensive way to get introduced to rafting. Don't worry, they provide life jackets, helmets, paddles, and even lunch. If you're seeking more of a thrill, there are also higher level trips. For $80 each you can take a risk on the "upper Yough," with a guide. From personal experience, I promise you will get soaked. If you're not ready to try rafting or you don't wanna be committed for the whole day you can also rent tubes. For $15 dollars a day you and your friends can rent inflatable inner tubes an take a leisurely float down the safer parts of the river.
