The results of a poll taken today at the Frostburg State University's Roper
Gallery and Dunkle hall give a trend of Liberal Arts to voting for President
Obama. Of the three students and two faculty members that participated, four
people indicated they would be voting Obama, one person has already voted, and
one unregistered student who said he would have voted for Obama. Issues on
their decisions focused primarily on social concerns.
Two art students, Marzio Figueroa and Ronisha Simpson, both feel that
Obama's stance on education will be beneficial for them. While Ronisha also
likes the work that Obama has done with health care, and Marzio has no faith in
Romney's plan to invest in the private sector. Ronisha is the student who has
already cast her ballot, and Marzio is the unregistered Obama supporter
mentioned previously.
Two staff members of the English Department polled was Dr. Mary Ann Chapman
and Dr. Amy Branam, and both will be voting for Obama. Dr. Branam, who is
registered but not under any party affiliation, likes the direction the country
is going in and is willing to give Obama four more years. Dr. Chapman is a
supporter of Question 6 and the DREAM Act, and will also be voting for Obama.
When asked if either of these professors would have ever voted for Mitt Romney,
Dr. Branam was the most open minded, saying, "I was open to the idea until
he started talking."
