Keep Calm & Don't Stress

Finally the semester is coming to an end. Unfortunately, the end brings in an extremely huge workload. Studying for exams, review sessions, writing papers, it’s just one thing after the other. And Hurricane Sandy wasn't of any help because it is as if the work has doubled. All these responsibilities bring stress and for college students stress is inevitable. So, I bring you some of useful tips to relieve the burden that is the dreaded exam week.

Tip #1
DO NOT PROCRASTINATE. Procrastination is not your friend. Avoid it at all cost. Procrastinating is just a setting yourself up to fail. And the pressure of getting the assignment done will lead to disappointment when you receive the grade that you were trying to steer clear of.

Tip #2
Organize! This is best way to stay on top of the game. Organize your calendar and label due dates, exam dates, etc. Use different color post its to prioritize which assignment is the most important to least important.

Tip #3
Make daily to do lists. This will help make sure you stay on track and don’t fall behind.

Tip #3.5
When you complete your to do list ON TIME, reward yourself. This will give you the incentive to finish your lists. The reward can be watching an episode of your favorite show or ordering some sushi.

Tip #4
NO ALL NIGHTERS. If you do not know the material around the exam week then you will not know it for your 8am exam the next day.

Tip #5
Go to sleep at a reasonable hour and get at least 6 to 8 hours. It’s easier said than done but it will help prevent oversleeping and being sluggish throughout the next day. Plus, it getting a good night sleep will help stay focus during your exam.

Tip #6
When you’re studying give yourself breaks. Don’t drink your brain till it burns out. Breaks can be from 15mins to an hour. In that time, you can go for a quick work out and get the endorphins flowing or pain your nails or play a quick game of Call of Duty.

Tip #7
Lastly, get help if you need it. If you are struggling in classes do be afraid to go get extra help. The benefit of going to Frostburg is that our professors are available to help us and they want us to succeed. Also, you can get help from tutoring center which is in Pullen Hall in room 151. So, do wait till last minute to attempt to learn the material. Go get help now!

Hopefully, these tips are helpful in making the end of your semester less stressful. Good Luck!
