Masquerade Ball this Saturday

By Racheal Myers

Do you plan to get all 15th century fancy this weekend? Did you plan on helping out animals in need? Well, you can do both at the first annual Masquerade Ball to benefit the Allegany Animal Shelter this Saturday, October 20 from 6 to 11 p.m. Plan on dressing in your finest venetian wear, complete with mask, and come on down to the Cumberland Holiday Inn. Tickets are still available for $25 a person, and are on sale online, visit http://www.naturesfellowship.org/2012MasqueradeBall.jsp. You can also pick up tickets at Peace Of Me, located at 51 North Centre St., Cumberland, MD. Tuesday through Saturday, 10am to 6pm.

The event will feature door prizes, a silent auction, dj, and cash bar. Only guests 21 and over are allowed to attend.  IDs are required, and light refreshments will be served.

The proceeds from the ball will help fund renovations to the Allegany Animal Shelter, including building a brand new adoption facility. This new facility will be able to house 103 dog kennels and 80-100 cat cages. The shelter plans on renovating the current shelter building to house the animal control division, as well as the intake and quarantine areas for incoming animals.  The sheriff’s office will also be taken over to become office space for shelter staff.
