Around the time of any college Homecoming, it seems that there is the common misconception that students drop all their school work in order to party and celebrate. I wanted to take some photographs around campus showing that Frostburg State University students, as a whole, are still committed to their school work and regular college routine. Pictured left is Katie Johnson, a senior criminal justice major with a minor in sociology from Garrett, Pennsylvania. She sits in the annex beside the snack
machines in Guild Hall for some peace and quiet while she studies her material for research methods. I think her dedication will certainly pay off!
Above is a candid shot of Ryley McBride, a sohpomore student with an undecided major from right here in Frostburg, Maryland. I believe the smirk on his face indicates that he knows he is being photographed as he browses the pens, notebooks, and other school supplies. Perhaps while in the FSU Bookstore, Ryley will get from Frostburg gear to show his school spirit on Homecoming weekend!
Finally, to the right is the last shot of the week. Saul Pena Gamero, a junior computer science/business administration major from Peru and Ryan Rankin, a senior information technology major from Silver Spring, Maryland interact with passers-by at their table for Autism research awareness. They are running the table and bake sale through the Residence Hall Association in order to fund raise for their cause. And I might say, the cinnamon rolls are quite delicious!
So, as you can see, Homecoming week is a time for celebration, but FSU students are still working hard, supporting our school, and performing volunteer work. All in all, as we embrace our school spirit this weekend, remember to work hard, have fun, and stay safe!
