Off Campus Living: Can I afford it?

Living on campus can get very expensive. Depending on which dorm a student lives in and how many roommates he has, one can pay a minimum of 1,790 dollars a semester and 3,580 dollars a school year and a maximum of 2,592 dollars a semester and 5,184 dollars a school year. Because all students who live on campus are required to have a meal plan, students have to add more money onto their semester bills. These meal plans range from 1,552 to 2,125 dollars a semester. Living off campus can also get expensive but students have more control over their expenses. Off campus housing rent ranges from 1,200 to 3,500 dollars a semester. This rent does not include deposits which can range from 300 to 500 dollars. Living off campus can help student negate thousands of dollars off their tuition bills, which can be used for other expenses.

It is often difficult to determine how much money will be spent living off campus because students have to factor in the cost of groceries, water, electric, gas, and cable bills, but this will most likely still be cheaper than living on campus.
