Is There A Silent Killer On Campus?

According to Dr. Allen of the Geography department there may be a silent killer on campus. Through a study the Geography department is conducting, Dr. Allen and his student assistants will be able to tell whether or not the salt that is being laid down to help clear the roads is having an effect on the soil. Soil is not something we want to destroy, and salt is believed to be the main contributing factor to the damaging effects on soil. Although according to Dr. Allen, “it could just be students walking off the sidewalk”. “A total of 4 automated stations location were identified, 1 MET station and 18 additional soil moisture sensors have been located throughout the campus to produce a detailed sampling grid.” These results will hopefully give the researchers a better understanding of how much our region is contributing to the watershed and if what we are contributing is harmful or not.
