More Food for Less Money
Balancing grades and time to relax are the top two problems that college students face. When given the chance to relax, their free time is spent scavenging for food and sleep. With buildings like Lane and the Chesapeake, students are able to eat within walking distance of their homes, however, what happens if you live off campus and you do not have a meal plan? I took the time to sit down with student, Guinevere Norman, who does not have a meal plan or a car and lives off campus. Ms. Norman said that the types of food she buys the most are canned foods and anything frozen. “This is because they are easy to prepare and do not spoil as quickly as most foods,” she says with a laugh. Easy preparation is something that many students look for due to their lack of free time. Foods that do not spoil are also ideal for college students because it does not require food to be thrown out and money wasted. Ms. Norman went on to say, “I like vegetarian stuff which keeps in the fridge longer. If food does not have meat in it, it does not spoil as quickly.” This information is something many college students may not have been aware of. It is easier to fulfill ones urge for meat at the local McDonalds or Burger King, however. College students have a hard enough time worrying about their school work and partying, that eating is something crammed into the day. Students have to seek advice from more experienced students about the best types of meals to prepare, as well as, what types of foods they personally prefer.

"Balancing grades and time to relax" is one problem, not two.
ReplyDeleteAlso, what is your evidence that it's students' top problem?
Also, what is Norman's major, year, and hometown?
